Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved the payment of over N17 million uniform debt from the previous administration to the executive principals of senior secondary schools, Edo State.
The approval follows a committee of executive principals from selected government schools visiting the Senior Secondary Education Board (SSEB) to appeal for refund of the sum of over N17 million.
The committee, led by Executive Principal of Egor Senior Secondary School, Onaifo Osemwengie, explained that former consultant to the ministry of education, Chinelo Ezeobi under the former administration established a uniform committee on the directives from former Education Commissioner Dr. Joan Oviawe, who later dissolved the committee, and over N17 million remained unpaid to the principals
While appreciating the executive principals for their patience, the Executive Chairman of SSEB, Dr. Maureen Ekhoragbon thanked the Governor Okpebholo for approving the payment.
She described the Governor as a leader with excellence, transparency, and accountability.
The executive principals thanked the chairman for listening to their plight.
