Poised not to repeat its 2019 mistake in the nomination of a Vice Presidential candidate, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has set up a 12-man committee to screen those interested in flying its flag as running mates to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba said in a press statement that ex-foreign affairs minister, Chief Tom Ikimi, will chair the committee.
According to the statement, Dr. Akiku Indabawa and Mr. Sunday Omobo will serve as secretary and administrative secretary of the committee respectively.
Other members of the committee are former Kogi state governor, Capt. Idris I. Wada (rtd), Chief Osita Chidoka, Rt. Hon. Binta Bello and Chief (Mrs.) Mutiat Adedoja.
The committee also has Rt. Hon. Austin Opara, Prof. Aisha Madawaki, Mrs. Ayotunde George-Ologun, Chief Mrs. Chidiebelu Mofus, and Mr. Fidelis Tapgun as members.
The National Publicity Secretary further stated that the “screening exercise will hold at the National Working Committee (NWC) Hall, PDP National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja on Thursday, June 16, 2022, at 10 am.”
Though he did not disclose the names of aspirants expected to undergo the Screening, theoutlookng.com gathered that only Gov. Nyesom Wike of Rivers State and his Delta State counterpart, Ifeanyi Okowa, have so far shown seriousness in the race.
