The embattled Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Rauf Olaniyan, has been impeached by the State House of Assembly.

Olaniyan, who has faced a storm in his relationship with Governor Seyi Makinde, since his defection to the opposition All progressives congress (APC), had his fun with governance terminated on Monday by the Oyo Assembly.

The House announced Olaniyan’s impeachment, Monday, following the adoption of the report of the Seven-man panel set up to investigate allegations brought against him.

The report had recommended his removal from office.

The Panel report was read by the Majority Leader of the House, Hon Sanjo Adedoyin.

The House had, following his defection to APC, served him a notice of impeachment in which he was also accused of gross misconduct, abuse of office, and financial recklessness.
