The Federal Republic of Nigeria and the State of Israel have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening bilateral relations, with a focus on security cooperation, counter-terrorism, intelligence sharing, and expanded collaboration in key economic sectors.

This was contained in a joint communique issued at the end of a Political Dialogue held on Monday, 11th August 2025, in Abuja, between Nigeria’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, and Israel’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sharren Miriam Haskel-Harpaz.

The technical session was co-chaired by Ambassador Janet Olisa, Director (Regions), Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nigeria, and Ambassador Sharon Bar-Li, Deputy Director General and Head of Africa Division, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel.

Both sides acknowledged that terrorism and insecurity remain global concerns requiring collective action. They agreed to strengthen cooperation in counter-terrorism, intelligence and information sharing, particularly in areas related to security financing and specialised training.

The meeting also emphasized the need for stronger collaboration at multilateral fora, solidarity on key global issues, and the expansion of cooperation in technology, innovation for border management, agriculture, culture, tourism, consular and immigration matters.

Nigeria and Israel also agreed to introduce exchange study tours to enhance capacity building and to maintain regular dialogue to sustain the momentum of their partnership.

The communique underscored both nations’ shared vision for a more robust bilateral relationship built on mutual respect, trust, and strategic cooperation.
