Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu, has called on Muslim worshippers across the state to always keep the newly remodelled mosques clean and tidy.
The Governor made the call during the commissioning of the remodelled Izala Jumu’at Mosque in Kebbe town, Kebbe Local Government Area.
He explained that the decision to embark on the total renovation of Jumu’at mosques across the state was necessitated by the dilapidated condition of most of the mosques before the advent of the present administration.
“When we took over the affairs of this state, most of our Jumu’at mosques were in a state of disrepair. This informed our decision to renovate them and make them more conducive for worshippers,” the Governor said.
Governor Aliyu added that, from inception to date, his administration has completed and commissioned thirty-one Jumu’at mosques across the state.
He restated his administration’s commitment to the provision of religious and other critical infrastructure aimed at improving the well-being of the people.
Also speaking at the event, the Special Guest of Honour who commissioned the Kebbe Izala Jumu’at Mosque, Alhaji Yusha’u Kebbe, commended Governor Ahmed Aliyu for the numerous people-oriented projects being executed across the state.
He particularly thanked the Governor for the remodelling of religious infrastructure, noting that it would go a long way in providing a more conducive environment for worshippers.
In his remarks, the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Sultan Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, represented by the Wazirin Sokoto, Prof. Sambo Wali Junaid, urged worshippers in the area to use the mosque strictly for the purpose for which it was built.
He assured Governor Aliyu of the Sultanate Council’s continued support for his administration’s efforts to improve the living conditions of the people of the state.
Also speaking, the Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Jibir Sani Maihulla, disclosed that several other Jumu’at mosques have been renovated and are awaiting commissioning.
Chairman kebbe local government area Musa Garba kuchi, commended Governor Aliyu for various developmental projects being executed by the state government in the area.
He assured Governor Aliyu of the unflinching support of people of the area to his administration at all times.
The Chief Imam of the remodelled Izala Jumu’at Mosque, Sheikh Abubakar Muhammad, later led the two-rak’ah congregational prayers.
