Governor Ahmed Aliyu has inspected the ongoing construction of 100 housing units for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Illela Local Government Area, a project jointly funded by the Sokoto State Government and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

During the inspection, the governor expressed satisfaction with the quality of work at the site and commended the contractor for adhering to standards and timelines.

“I’m impressed with the quality of work and the progress made by the contractor. I urge other contractors handling government projects to emulate this level of commitment and professionalism,” Governor Aliyu said.

He also reassured displaced persons across the state of his administration’s unwavering commitment to their welfare and reintegration.

“I want to assure our internally displaced brothers and sisters that we are fully committed to protecting their dignity,” he added.

The governor further highlighted the state government’s ongoing efforts to mitigate flooding, which he identified as one of the major causes of displacement in the region. He reiterated the administration’s resolve to protect all government investments and infrastructure across the state.

Governor Aliyu emphasized that his government is working tirelessly to strengthen security, particularly in rural communities, and called on citizens to continue supporting efforts to build a safer and more resilient Sokoto.

He concluded by thanking the people of the state for their continuous support to his administration.

The governor was accompanied on the visit by APC leader in the State, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, Speaker of Sokoto State House of Assembly Tukur Bala Bodinga, former Deputy Governor Chiso Abdullahi Dattijo, members of the National and State Assembles, State APC Chairman Isa Saddiq Achida, commissioners, Special Advisers and Senior Special Assistants among others.
