The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that the Senior Officials Meeting between Nigeria and the European Union (EU) will take place on July 1-2, 2025, in Abuja. The meeting aims to prepare for the upcoming Nigeria-EU Ministerial Meeting and explore areas of cooperation between the two parties.
The Senior Officials Meeting will be co-chaired by Ambassador Janet Olisa, Director of Regions Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nigeria, and Mr. Mathieu Briens, Deputy Managing Director for Africa Department, European External Action Service, European Union.
The agenda includes discussions on various aspects of the Nigeria-EU partnership, such as cooperation on multilateral and regional issues including peace, security, and governance.
Others are humanitarian situation, trade and investment, human development health, education, social protection, science, technology, innovation, and digital transition among others.
The meeting underscores the deep and long-standing partnership between Nigeria and the European Union, built on mutual values and interests. Both parties share a commitment to multilateralism and a rule-based international order.
The Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, has confirmed the meeting, highlighting the importance of the Nigeria-EU partnership.
