Coalition Donates APC Guber Forms To Okonkwo

The governorship hopes of Prof. Obiora Okonkwo, lead aspirant in the race to replace Chukwuma Soludo as Anambra state governor, recieved a major boost on Wednesday when the Anambra Coalition for Progressive Change bought and donated to him, the governorship nomination and expression of interest forms of the party.

The Coalition, led by Chief Cyril Ezeani, said its decision was to encourage Prof. Okonkwo, who, according to the group, is the most prepared and more credible candidate in the race.

The Coalition had stormed the National Secretariat of APC in Abuja, where they collected the forms after all necessary formalities had been concluded to the admiration of staff of the party and supporters.

Presenting the forms to Prof. Okonkwo, at a brief ceremony that was held at his office at The Dome, the Coalition, said it would work very hard to ensure that Okonkwo’s vision for a better Anambra state was realised.

“It is in the inyerestbof Anambra state that we decided to raise funds and purchase these forms for Prof. Okonkwo.

“With the purchase and donation of the forms, we want to make it clear that we are no longer going to sit by and watch while our state deteriorates.

“So, the decision to buy these forms for him is a practical demonstration of our resolve to bring sustainable change to our state. For us, therefore, Prof. Okonkwo fits the bill. We have reviewed all the aspirants and found him to be the most suitable, the most credible, and the most prepared for the task ahead,” he said.

An elated Okonkwo, who expressed disbelief that a group was able to raise money and donate the guber forms to him, promised to make Anambra people proud of their state if he got their nod to lead the state in the November 8 election.

He said that his interest in the governorship race was about returning the state to its pre-eminent position in the country.

He lamented policy failures of the present government, adding that it created room for sudden increase in insecurity, which had caused the loss of life and property.

“I am deeply grateful for this surprise gift. I wasn’t expecting it. Now that you have come together to donate them to me, I am re-energised knowing that I am not alone on this journey. My promise to you is that i will not disappoint you,” he said.
