Gov. Ahmed Aliyu has inspected a military fighter jet, and other facilities provided by the State Government, in preparation for a new military operation code-named ‘FANSAR YAMMA’, aimed at ridding the North-West zone of banditry.
The Governor, in company of the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, was at the Sultan Abubakar lll International Airport, Sokoto, where he inspected the temporary facility provided to the military, pending the completion of the permanent one.
Gov. Aliyu commended President Bola Tinubu for being proactive in addressing the security challenges affecting the state.
He said the deployment of the fighter jet to Sokoto under the new operation was a clear testimony that banditry in the North-West zone would soon be history.
“I am optimistic that by the grace of the Almighty Allah, the days of bandits are numbered in Sokoto State and the North-West as a whole.
“What we need to do is to pray for Mr President to succeed,” he appealed.
Matawalle commended the Governor for his sustained invaluable support to the military.
The Minister said that with the governor’s unwavering commitment, the military would succeed in the task of ridding the state of banditry.
He reassured the people of the state and the zone of the military’ s determination to ensure the protection of their lives and property.
The Minister solicited fervent prayers from the people of the state for operation ‘FANSAR YAMMA’ to be a success story.
Gov. Aliyu was later ushered into the jet where he tested some of its gadgets.
