All is now set for the inauguration of the Anambra State directorate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign Council Management Committee.

The Presidential Campaign Management Committee, which is headed by Prof. Obiora Okonkwo, will be inaugurated at an elaborate ceremony on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at its headquarters in Awka, the state capital.

The PDP Presidential Campaign Council, which is tasked to work for the electoral success of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Sen. Ifeanyi Okowa, presidential candidate and running mate of the party respectively, is housed at Dikeora House, located at Kwata Junction in Awka.

Expected at the inauguration is the Chairman of the PDP Presidential Campaign Council in the state, Sen. Ben Ndi Obi, Hon. CID Maduabum, all members of the Board of Trustees of the party from the state, serving senators and House of Representatives members, former state chairmen of the party in the state amongst many others.

Others on the Anambra PDP Presidential Campaign Council include former chairmen of the party in the local government areas of the state, elders of the party in the state, women leaders, influential personalities, and former elected party executives amongst others.

Meanwhile, the State Presidential Campaign Management Committee headed by Prof. Okonkwo has Chief Sam Ben Nwosu, Sir Ndubuisi Nwobu, Chief Samuel Ikefuna, and Chief Joseph Udekwe, Hon. Onyebuchi Offor among others as deputy directors in charge of specific segments of the directorate.

Thanking the PDP Presidential Campaign Council for appointing him as director of its campaigns in Anambra state, Prof. Okonkwo said delivering the Atiku/Okowa ticket is a task that must be achieved.

According to him, the committee will mobilise and rally the majority of the Anambra electorate to make the Atiku/Okowa ticket a reality because of the opportunity it offers for the restructuring of the country.

He said: “A key panacea to Nigeria’s developmental challenges is restructuring which, will among other things give a sense of belonging to the federating units, mainstream equity and fairness in national governance and reduce distrust among Nigerians. It is on record that the PDP candidate is one of the strongest proponents of a truly federal system of government in Nigeria which aligns with the interests of the southeast region. A restructured Nigeria along with state police will also help address our security challenges which as the first order of government and at the barest minimum should be the protection of lives and property.

“Let me end this brief speech by reiterating our readiness for the presidential election and our commitment to deliver Anambra State and Nigeria for the Atiku-Okowa ticket. In pursuit of this goal, my team and I will awaken the PDP spirit, galvanize old members of the party, bring in new members; take our inclusive and strictly issue-based campaign to every voter, ward and local government area of Anambra State spreading the rescue gospel encapsulated in the 5-point agenda of the Atiku-Okowa manifesto”, Prof. Okonkwo added.
